Ok folks we are back at it again from 1-5. Yesterday was a lot. Heard from so many passionate Vancouverites.

Unfortunately I heard the mayor say it was a waste of time. But I assure you, I’m listening.
Budget hearing continued after short recess. 157: environmental lawyer (?)Reads poem. 158: raised in east van. This is austerity and hasn’t been asked for. I’ve been lucky enough to use public services. Breaks my heart to think they won’t get same quality. Few people asked for this police budget.

If he doesn’t want people to get hot under the collar, then maybe don’t put out such a terrible budget that everyone hates.

Like the old saying says, “if you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen.”

People are more than tired of his shit.

Speakers are getting a little hot under the collar and Mayor Ken Sim has had to caution them several times.

Harmon Moon just got cautioned for saying "Rather than taking governance seriously, you’ve already decided to go all-in with a bribe to property owners," which the mayor called defamatory.

Incredibly short-sighted and irresponsible, and completely disconnected from the real values & priorities of Vancouverites. This move would be awful not only for Vancouver, but also for all the cities that Vancouver’s leadership has inspired over decades of North American sustainability leadership.

If mayor bitcoin refuses to raise property taxes he should be forces to personally pay for all departments to maintain or grow their budgets out of his own pocket

Vancouver's proposed 2026 budget has been released.

It proposes a property tax freeze, a 10% increase to the Police Services budget, a 6% increase to Fire/Rescue Services, and lots of other cuts, including Arts & Culture, Planning & Sustainability, and much more.

It is obviously not sustainable for a city to have no tax increase, a significant increase in police budget (again), and cuts to services everywhere else.

It doesn't work to add police funding and cut support for mental health and everything else. ABC circa 2022 would be the first to tell you that.

We are made from dust and to dust we must return.

Ashes to ashes, earth to earth, dust to dust.

May those still with us find peace & comfort and may those who have departed be met with abundant love and rest eternal.
