Incredibly short-sighted and irresponsible, and completely disconnected from the real values & priorities of Vancouverites. This move would be awful not only for Vancouver, but also for all the cities that Vancouver’s leadership has inspired over decades of North American sustainability leadership.

If mayor bitcoin refuses to raise property taxes he should be forces to personally pay for all departments to maintain or grow their budgets out of his own pocket

Vancouver's proposed 2026 budget has been released.

It proposes a property tax freeze, a 10% increase to the Police Services budget, a 6% increase to Fire/Rescue Services, and lots of other cuts, including Arts & Culture, Planning & Sustainability, and much more.

Full report here.

It is obviously not sustainable for a city to have no tax increase, a significant increase in police budget (again), and cuts to services everywhere else.

It doesn't work to add police funding and cut support for mental health and everything else. ABC circa 2022 would be the first to tell you that.

We are made from dust and to dust we must return.

Ashes to ashes, earth to earth, dust to dust.

May those still with us find peace & comfort and may those who have departed be met with abundant love and rest eternal.

Grief is our refusal to let go of the remarkable, miraculous impossibility of human connection.

We must learn to embrace grief and to walk hand in hand with Death, like old friends, ready to rejoin the Cosmic Chaos, or to face the Nothing, together.

Grief is our body, our mind, our spirit reminding us that we need one another. Its how we remind ourselves that kindess is how the spark of humanity becomes a roaring, life-sustaining fire.

Grief is our body’s way of of recognising the beautiful - and vital - role of community in our lives.
