I feel a bit bad ignoring my 'best' friend, but yesterday she while speaking in a gc mentioned a slur that is directed at a group of people I happen to be apart of. But I don't say im apart of unless directly asked. So I feel bad for ignoring her, but then again I have been outspoken about slurs...

I try to explain this to most of friends, doing is learning. So even if your writing “sucks” you are in process of learning to be better. So follow your passions without the idea that you “suck”.
The number one advice any & every writing professional can & will give you is this:
DO NOT BE AFRAID TO SUCK.
You have spent years reading books, watching movies & TV, developing taste to know good from bad. NO ONE GETS TO READ YOUR WRITING UNTIL YOU LET THEM. Trust your taste & write fearlessly.
