This.

I was a mere schoolboy when I started listening to the old London-only LBC in the 1980s. Brian Hayes was one of the radio legends I tuned in to.

RIP

PS. There was one person he never cut off - a woman who'd be on every week, reading a scripted response to the topic. What was her name?
Deeply sad to hear that the brilliant, legendary Brian Hayes has died at the age of 87. His contribution to British radio knew no bounds. While he didn't create the @lbc.co.uk phone-in, he perfected it after moving over from Capital Radio in the early days of ILR.....

Anand got there seconds before me.

"Madame Deputy Speaker" - more than once.

Weird.
I’m obsessed. Does she think the Deputy Speaker is French?

✅ Cleaner

This can be achieved with:

✅ Parking controls
✅ LTNs
✅ Road User Pricing
✅ Pedestrianisation

This is because Reform relies on building a coalition of disordered counterpublics reacting against distrusted institutions, and the anti-vax community is part of that, so he knows he needs to keep is vague to avoid upsetting them.
Farage shows his absolute weakness as a Trump puppet on LBC. Asked about Trump blathering about a completely unproven link between paracetamol and autism, Farage said “I have no idea, I have no idea” and he would “listen” to RFK Jr.

He went on to say “science is never settled”.

Dangerous.

"Misreading". Yes, that's right, Pat. Trump sat down, painstakingly reviewed all of the most reliable literature on this matter, and sadly managed to misread it. We've all been there.

Oh, and anyone want to give Iain Lee a like on here?

He's just given up close on 93k followers on X. Has about 3k on here at the moment.

What more do you think Iain could do?

I suppose I could ask the same about myself (I won't join a political party.)

Try explaining to someone outside the UK that this road, shared with walkers, cyclists and horse riders, legally has a 60mph speed limit. Madness, really.

Awwww. Very much a voice of my childhood - and many others', considering the Mr Benn series had around 40 airings.

In less than ten years time this view will be very different. Amsterdam are building an enormous cycle bridge over the river from this location to the other side at a cost of €100m. It'll be spectacular. We could choose to do this in London but we choose to build the Silvertown tunnel instead.

I said on Saturday that *every* OECD country that has higher government spending than the UK achieves this by taxing the median worker more than the UK.

Richard Murphy's response? I'm a "neoliberal", and every OECD country is "neoliberal".

After Sly Stone, a second tortured popular music genius has left us.

I did get lucky enough to see Brian Wilson premiere 'Smile' at the Royal Festival Hall back in February 2004.

I walked in off the street and got a return not far behind the VIPs.

An emotional evening, for sure.

Yet another RIP.

Sad news.

I wish I had been young enough to get to a Sly Stone gig.

The nearest I got was seeing clips on tv and one track on the wonderful 'Summer of Soul' documentary.

Great music, a troubled man.

RIP
