My latest newsletter is about how generative AI companies are risking the lives of the most vulnerable by releasing tools that affirm dangerous delusions -- and the potential human consequences.

And it's about why nobody seems to be freaking out about it.

How many people will generative AI kill before we actually care?
Too many.

Went to see a psychiatrist and unfortunately he reminds me of Bertie Wooster.

“What ho we better prescribe some quetiapine or Aunt Agatha will have my guts for garters!”

Lithium was created in the Big Bang. Now, this light metal has become crucial for modern technology. The recent discovery of a massive amount of lithium in southern California could change everything. But at what cost? It’s “Lithium Valley” on @bipisci.bsky.social 🧪

Just a thought for BipolarSky💈💈

Looking at the "No Kings" protests in the USA yesterday, the proportion of the population attending is of a similar (but not exact) proportion to the number of people with bipolar disorder.

It certainly looks like a lot of people!

Bipolar disorder doesn’t feel mundane but really it’s not that unusual.

Medical speculation of public figures elevated it incorrectly to the the status of evil villain superpower, missing out the simple observation that said villain may not be not sick, just extremely rich and powerful.
I wish it was as clean as blaming Tapper, but there’s a whole ecosystem within the media that was perfectly happy to violate rules of medical ethics communication for decades. The newsification of medical speculation is a bigger problem than CNN’s ridiculousness re: Biden.
Remember when it was unethical for doctors to go on a broadcast and give hypothetical diagnoses for people who are not their patient?

I'd like to thank Jake Tapper for opening the floodgates on that one.

I plan to post at least one of my photos a day here on Bluesky. I design each of my photos using recent research into the benefits to mental health of looking at plants & patterns in nature.
Making my collections relaxes my noisy autistic+ADHD brain & they'll relax yours by looking at them here:

Alright bipolar peeps I am going to tell you something I do.

I decided I needed a mental defence against the voice in my head that suggests a permanent solution to transient problems.

I also wanted some cold, hard, evidence that I do something worthwhile.

Interesting how a fake diagnosis of bipolar disorder is used to cover up aviation safety issues. The pilot, who doesn’t have bipolar disorder, is an incredible woman. Wouldn’t say no to Julia Roberts playing her in a movie!
Hey, @ox.ac.uk, how about an honorary degree for this woman pilot with a PhD in aviation safety, whose employer hired a crooked psychiatrist to label her mentally ill after she blew the whistle on safety practices? She fought (for years) and won.

Seattle pilot fought back after Delta ‘weaponized’ mental health rules
When Delta grounded her after securing a bogus bipolar diagnosis, Seattle-based pilot Karlene Petitt fought back. She resisted. And she won.

Did my DBT session today. We were actually discussing all sorts, and focused on my creativity. Of course, I'm too old for electric guitars and unrequited love poems, I might have to take up hat making or I dunno, wedding dresses for cats.

💈💈With all the aggro about slebs on the TL, I thought I would try to brighten it a little something from Spike Milligan, UK and Irish National Treasure who had bipolar disorder.

This is a very corny joke, the delight is when you work out how to use sometime in your own life.

Do you know what's missing from the current discourse is the qualifiers?

It's "Elon is bipolar demon sex pest bipolar ketamine racist"

Not

"Look, one of my friends is bipolar, and she's had a real hard life. I see what she goes through, and I wonder if Elon has the same thing".

It's got nasty.

The package delivery app doesn’t update the ETA for the wintry conditions.

I mean I could complete this mental task myself but I don’t enjoy the poor quality of a digital app that doesn’t work as intended because of some snow! You’re online, snow shouldn’t break your app!
