Today's walk: Tess stayed home today, so when my friend and I and our six dogs met a small child who desperately wanted to pet a dog, not one of the dogs would pay any attention to her. If Tess had been there, she would've happily stood and been petted all day.

There are two kinds of Patterdale terrier, we've been told. There's the kind that you use for hunting rats and rabbits and fighting other dogs, and then there's Bittser's kind.

Team, I think it's nearly flying time. The chicks are sitting on our roof, shouting for their lunch, and the adults are sitting on our neighbour's roof, telling them that if they want lunch they'll have to spread their wings and come over and get it.
