I'm sharing an image a day to celebrate the vibrant and unique culture and history of Canada.
Today, it is this member of the Kainai First Nation in Alberta participating in a Sun Dance Ceremony in 1960.

I came here to share a cat picture but am hesitating because the only setting for Bluesky is public. I miss the friends only option and wonder if it will ever be introduced. I also miss the Groups option. Is there such a thing here in “the good place?”

Dear Modern Humans,

You thought you were so much smarter than people from the Middle Ages. But you're not.

Why do you think the dark ages lasted so long? It was because of greedy, insane despots who crushed progress and dangerous thoughts.

It won't end until you rise up and overthrow them all.

“Autistic People are bad at socializing”

NO let’s reframe that:

“Autistic People socialize in an Autistic way”

I do better when socializing over shared interests and passions.

Solidarity with education support workers as they begin job action! ✊

Today, I headed to each school where striking CUPE Local 3550 workers were gathered: Ross Sheppard, M.E. LaZerte, and Elder Dr. Francis Whiskeyjack School!

Hundreds of workers and supporters showed up! 👏

When we get triggered, have a sh*t day, backslide, relapse, we gotta remember: we're not starting again from scratch. We're STILL skilled & experienced, even if our struggles got the better of us for a sec. We're NOT at Square One.

Easy does it. Just pick up where you left off.

Hey friends, if you feel like sh!t but can't quite pinpoint or figure out why... this site can walk you through figuring out with one simple question at a time: youfeellikeshit.com
you feel like shit
You feel like shit. That sucks. You Feel Like Shit is a game designed to help you help yourself through your shitty times and practice self care.

In this day and age, living in a place that
- you like,
- you can afford,
- you can find a job,
- you have family/friends,
- you feel safe, and
- you *are* safe from natural disasters/bad laws/worse

is luxury and privilege. Almost no one gets to check all the boxes.

So maybe don’t be an asshole.

Instead, in Nunavut people contribute according to their abilities, says a new study sponsored by the Canadian Centre of Caregiving Excellence (CCCE).

Eeek, I almost forgot what it's like to be able to share ACTUAL NEWS FROM THE SOURCE. Twitter X was toxic and unsafe for my community. You can't share news in Canada on the BookOfFaces. I like it here.

“The reality is that it is expensive to be disabled. Research shows that disabled people need at least 28% more income, at least $17,690, to achieve a standard of living similar to that of non-disabled people.”
