The Reagan administration literally negotiated a free trade agreement with Canada that abolished most tariffs between the US and Canada
1. Reagan’s speech is real

2. It’s public domain

3. Americans pay the cost of the added 10% tariffs, not Canadians

4. Trump keeps lying because he thinks you’re all too stupid to fact check

5. The average family will pay an extra $4900 this year because his tariffs

As it should be. Except that they shouldn't have allowed the tariffs to stay in place through Oct. 14.
Breaking News: A federal appeals court ruled that many of President Trump’s most punishing tariffs are illegal. But the judges delayed the implementation of their order until October to grant the administration time to seek review by the Supreme Court.
Appeals Court Rules Against Many Trump Tariffs
The decision is a big blow to President Trump’s trade policies, but the judges left the duties in place for now to allow time for a likely appeal to the Supreme Court.

Rest in Peace Fred Smith, a true American icon and my former boss. It's hard to imagine FedEx or the city of Memphis without him. He was also a true advocate for free trade and often noted that the earliest cave paintings depicted people trading, and he decried our return to mercantilism.

When Trump pulled out of the Trans-Pacific Partnership in 2017 he started the process of ripping up the free trade playbook.

The combined cost of that TPP withdrawal and Trump’s tariffs? A global economy that’s $1tn smaller and a US with 690k fewer jobs.

David Richardson, the acting head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, was joking when he said that he didn’t know the United States had a hurricane season, a spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security, which includes FEMA, said.
No hurricane season? Acting FEMA chief’s remark was a joke, DHS says.
