I keep circling the drain with this thought: when it comes to large systems, destruction is easier and faster than creation. The latter takes willpower and effort the likes of which many don't understand. Destruction takes a pen stroke.

I want to remind fellow Californians that we overwhelmingly voted to continue forced prison labor- slavery, if you will. And yet we desperately rely on prisoners to fight fires, especially in situations like this with all hands on deck... Even though we won't hire them on release.

California has long relied on its prison population to help fight wildfires. It is one of at least 14 states that operates fire camps for incarcerated people to train to fight fires.
The next generation of firefighters learned how to fight fires while in prison
A nonprofit in California is aiming to remove roadblocks for previously incarcerated firefighters and expand the profession in the process.

Every year I compile lists from various board game influencers to see what the hottest games are from the previous year.
SETI, Unconscious Mind, and LotR Duel look like the big standouts this year. I'll also personally shout out Arcs, SW Unlimited, Slay the Spire, and Kinfire Delve. What a year!
