50 years ago, those of us at the beginning of development of GIS dreamed of doing this sort of spatial analysis but the technology just wasn't there yet.

This is a great presentation on a different way of looking at a city's financial future.
WATCH: If you really STILL don’t understand how car-dependent suburbia is HEAVILY SUBSIDIZED by downtown & all the urban parts of your city, please watch this EXCELLENT video by #NotJustBikes helped by #UrbanThree & @StrongTowns.org. Though I already voted I did have some thoughts both during and after. Normally I wouldn't have voted for a mayoral candidate as I didn't find any super appealing... but I did so I would put a vote AGAINST others. Same with 8 councillors. While I voted some FOR I voted a whole bunch to vote AGAINST

Cheaper to house then hate
“In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.”

It costs a lot less to house people.
Finland ends homelessness and provides shelter for all in need - scoop.me
In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Why? The country applies the "Housing First" concept agains homelessness.

Interesting language in there. 30% feel unsafe, not 70% feel safe. If the city wants people to go downtown they really need to regulate their language.

I haven't seen it but I've read it more then once. Everyone should take a deep breath, walk The Long Walk and take another deep breath. We are there.

OMG I remember this show! I always wondered if it was a fever dream! It was such a wild ride and 100% a sign of the times.
It was one of the most psychedelic, bizarre and beloved Canadian children's shows ever made.
Structured like a sketch comedy show around the comedic genius of Billy Van, it is well remembered even to this day.
This is the story of The Hilarious House of Frightenstein!

I have, perhaps, my most important question ever to ask on this platform. Do Transformers have health insurance or automobile insurance?

This thread sounds familiar? #yql
This is important.

Years ago, while I was advising the City of Sydney Australia on various things, there was an INFAMOUS day where a particularly bad state-level minister of roads was stuck in traffic and saw bike riders zooming by his limousine in a well-used, safe, protected bike-lane.

Well…

Well I did it. I got myself an e-bike. Putting my money where my mouth is.

Has anyone biked from the South Side (Henderson) to the University? Whats the best route? #yql

Did some e-bike test riding today (thanks Bike Lane!). I am terribly out of shape apparently. Anyhow, what a cool experience. Maybe I can finally put my money where my mouth is and do my best to alleviate traffic a bit?

If you are in a car you can't complain about traffic. Because it's you. You're traffic.
As our kids go #BackToSchool, never forget that we ARE the traffic that we’re afraid of. If more kids walked, biked or rode transit to school, it would erase a massive number of car trips each day, and our kids would be safer, healthier and better at school. HT Ian Lockwood.

Spread the word.

I am all for democratic voting measures but the long ballot thing has me baffled. Half the candidates got zero votes. Zero. They didn't even vote for themselves! Why? Most don't live there. Like Pollievre. It should be a rule you have a registered primary residence in that riding.

Trump and Putin are no longer meeting alone. Seems like the US might have ambushed them last minute and that is why it took so long to them come out of the planes.

They hate 15 minute cities but love tropical resorts. Everything within 15 minutes including "free" health care and "free" transit.
After 33+ years of city planning, one thing I long ago lost tolerance for is the deliberate spreading of lies about planning processes to scare people, especially seniors, ESL etc.

It’s a reasonable question to ask “why are you spreading lies & scaring your neighbours about what’s being proposed?”
