Existing in a perpetual doze, I happen to be a person that plays the videogames. An enthusiast of STGs, Virtual-On, JRPGS and mech-related shenanigans, amongst other things. Also: Hi!

This holiday season, give those you love and care about the gift… of Sektori.

Might not be case now, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the bullet point of ‘This product does not use and has never used generative AI in its creation and use’ becomes a powerful promotional and marketing tool in the next few months.

Early Access and the way they managed their community across all their updates helped humanize that team in ways that only helped Baldur’s Gate 3, weird for the studio to be so willing to throw all that goodwill away.
I think it's nice when concept art shows the evolution of people's creative processes instead of a prompt, but what do I know

Cleared campaign on the highest difficulty with all ships now. Redeemer was definitely easier than Defier. Might give Arcade Revolution a proper try next year after holidays... time to go outside and enjoy the beauty of nature indeed. #Sektori

I’ll wade into the To a T discussions by simply saying that… I was totally unaware that it was out. That’s a bit annoying as well considering I like most of Keita Takahasi’s stuff.

So my case scenario was probably sub-par marketing and adverse algorithm stuffs.

Metroid Prime 4 is… fine.

There’s incredible presentation and tech work in there, but it feels handhold-y and pseudo-linear in a way that’s uncharacteristic of a Metroid game.

Decided to finally set up my long overdue Itch.io account and finally do some farmer’s market gaming.

Anyone who glances over this post by chance, do you have any favourite indie STGs that are available on there?

A soulless move that remarkably makes the enjoyable punk-stylings of its predecessor worse.

For its faults, the original still has a cool style and soundtrack all of its own, and it’s remarkable that Supertrick/Gungho just… decides to ignore the good thing they have and steal from everyone instead.
The Let it Die sequel - Let it Die: Inferno - which is coming out next week (4th December), seems to have been built using a considerable amount of generative AI. https://bit.ly/4ol7lIA

Anyway, Sektori continues to be great. Play Sektori.

It is honestly a bummer that the HD remaster of R-Type Delta just seems incredibly sub-par all around.

If the aim is to be faithful, then you really should be as faithful as you can to the smallest details. Even slowdown.

If you want to ‘remove lag’, then that warrants a straight-up reimagining.

Again, I would like like Gabe Newell to sell one of his yachts that he doesn’t use to enable a fairer revenue split between storefont and devs.

But now I would him to sell another one just so Valve can pay for a proper approvals team, one that does their jobs and doesn’t operate on ‘Valve vibes’.
Our upcoming game HORSES was preemptively banned from Steam, with no path to appeal. The game will still launch next week on December 2nd and will be available on EGS, GOG, Humble, and Itch for $4.99. Here is a detailed FAQ covering what happened: horses.wtf/BannedFromSt...

You all should really play Sektori. I don’t think I’ve had this much fun with a twin-stick shooter since Nex Machina.

And seeing who developed it, I can hazard a really good guess as to why!

I sometimes feel like CEOs just can’t or won’t comprehend why pushback against Generative AI is so visceral, even when the obvious answers constantly smack them in the face.
"Surely there's a middle ground here?" The CEO of Helldivers 2 studio Arrowhead says people "jump to extreme takes" when debating generative AI, and that there needs to be more nuance in the discussion.

The Steam Hardware stuff does look neat, but man I still wish Valve would pursue a fairer revenue split for smaller devs. 30% is still too much too take for people that can’t really afford to take that hit.

Surely Gabe can sell one or two of his yachts that he never uses.

A few happy neurons in my brain fire off whenever there’s a new No Man’s Sky update these days, so Hello Games must be doing something right.

Even if his action games never really gelled with me in way the Kamiya’s games often did, I still appreciated Itagaki’s work all the same. Sparing a thought today.
