It doesnt stop there. Did you know "zombies" are an African creation?

Zombie comes from the Haitian creole "zanbi," which itself comes from the Kikongo word "nzambi" that translates to "spirit of a dead person.'

It embodied the spirit of haitian slavery. Body is alive, the soul is not

Wanna hear a scary story?

The first American vampire was Black.

Seriously.

78 years before Dracula appeared in American literature, there was "The Black Vampyre" by Uriah D'Arcy.

It was written in 1819 as an antislavery critique and the effect the Haitian Revolution had on the States

Hill House is phenomenal! Definitely on my regular re-watch list.
Somehow had never watched Haunting of Hill House so am currently 5 eps in and this is incredible stuff, thus far it's hands down the best show I've seen in ages

Today marks the two-year anniversary of a great modern sci-fi show: Scavengers Reign. 🥰

A new classic that is only officially available in a few countries.

This reminded me of the Doctor Who episode Gridlock, where where an entire planet's population spend their entire lives in their flying cars, stuck in a massive traffic jam in mid-air, unable to even breathe outside because the air is so polluted.
What's confusing is we all grew up watching the Jetsons which had flying cars and traffic in the air.
Flying cars are the perfect example of a point solution: trying to solve a systemic problem (traffic) with an individual product (fly over the traffic).

But traffic is not a technology problem; it's a social problem. Remote work, congestion fees, and dense transit-connected housing solve it better.

The President of the United States is threatening to go to war with an American city.

This is not a joke. This is not normal.

Donald Trump isn't a strongman, he's a scared man. Illinois won’t be intimidated by a wannabe dictator.

I feel like Scott Bakula deserves more recognition from the trans community

QUANTUM LEAP provided a lot of people with visions of (pseudo-)transness that were completely unavailable elsewhere in media

When Bakula put on a dress and said "Oh, boy…" I asked myself questions—and for that, I thank him

Wow! France gifted her to us, and now they’ve captured what so many Americans are feeling on Independence Day. The values the Statue of Liberty stood for are no more.

📌 A stunning mural of the Statue of Liberty covering her face was unveiled in Roubaix, France, on July 3, 2025.

But the people in charge of searching for lost hikers say the feature is going to exacerbate an issue they’ve been warning about for years: hiking apps providing false information."
