Nah I getcha. It's funny too because much as people clamor for more Prime, only 1 was particularly good, and I feel like they forget about 2 and especially 3 just going off in a different direction. Metroid is a series that's never understood what works and neither have the fans and it's tragic.

Yeah sorry about that. Metroid's always been the unloved child. To be fair though even the Prime games quickly lost sight of what made Prime 1 good. I'll go to bat for 1 and nothing else because Retro never quite understood what made 1 work imo and the direction they took it in just didn't work.

Like I think you also forget that Fusion and Prime came out at the same time. Retro did it's own thing and Sakamoto fucking hated it. He hated the Prime games and how they changed Samus compared to his vision. Super Metroid for him was I'd argue a fluke.

At that point there was little in the way of Metroid to kill. Sakamoto's vision was always going in a more linear direction and story driven as evidenced in Fusion and later Other M. Prime just did it's own thing and was pretty fuckin' good and worked pretty well with adapting the formula to 3D.
