They should have shopped around, I am sure they could have gotten nothing at all for 110 or even 105% of the original plan.
NZ has now paid 120% of the full cost of 2 next generation, hybrid ferries for *checks notes* nothing at all. Those ferries were on track for 2025 & 2026 delivery.

Auckland's network of cycle facilities is nearly 800 kilometres! Or is it?
If we peel back some of the layers, we can remove facilities that do little to encourage cycling, don't protect people on bikes or require the mixing of multiple modes.
