We need less podcasters in government.
Has JD Vance done anything as VP besides go on podcasts and complain?

God forbid people be comfy for what is often a stressful, exhausting, and unpredictable experience.
Trump's Transportation Secretary on how to improve air travel:

"People dress up like they're going to bed when they fly... We want to push people as we come into a really busy travel season, help people out, be in a good mood, dress up"

Elon Musk’s anti-woke version of Wikipedia, Grokipedia, cites neo-Nazi forums in multiple places as source.

A great validation of the notion that when people say they’re anti-woke, they just mean they’re hyper racist.
Elon Musk’s Grokipedia cites Stormfront — a neo-Nazi forum — dozens of times, study finds
An analysis by researchers at Cornell University is the first comprehensive look at Grokipedia since Musk launched his project last month.

you could fact check this — there aren’t 30 million illegal immigrants and there is no evidence that the presence of an immigrant in say houston has any impact on housing in madison, wisconsin — or you could note straightforwardly that this is just nazi rhetoric
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."

If you are writing an opinion piece about higher education and the three example institutions you use are Harvard, Yale, and Stanford, please just throw your writing in the trash. You are not writing about higher ed, you are writing about a tiny elitist unrepresentative sliver of higher ed.

I tried to login to a site with a moving letters animated captcha and failed the captcha. I closed the window, because at this point in the week I'm just not going to do better on the second attempt.

When confronted with the important question of what is in the corner, Michael Stipe churned out this crap: "That's me in the corner/That's me in the spotlight/Losing my religion."

While Mike Mignola, conversely, responded with the all-time classic "Is that a monkey?" "WITH A GUN!" "BLAM BLAM"

I wasn't ready for fall when I recorded this silly game show *checks notes* a week and a half ago.

But now I totally am! Did recording this podcast help with that? Yes!

Most people are decent, honest folks trying to do their best in challenging times.

Except for that one coworker who kept trying to convince me The Orville was better Star Trek than Discovery.

No thanks, Dude.

My latest column for the Chronicle of Higher Ed is now live. It's an argument for including AI-critical voices in campus conversations and policymaking workgroups, and I'm proud to get this dissenting piece into the mainstream genAI/higher ed discourse. Please read and share if you're so inclined 🙂
Advice | Sometimes We Resist AI for Good Reasons
Why higher ed needs to listen to the contrarians in setting policies on using tools like ChatGPT in faculty work.
