I started watching Deep Space 9 after you and @jackpackard.bsky.social discussed it for a depressingly short time on Rewind...
Now, do you know the story behind Jadzia Dax's first name?

Because to a Polish ear, it sounds funny. It's the diminutive form of Jadwiga (name).

Thank you for making me realize that Battlestar Galactica is the gritty version of Star Trek Voyager.

I really can't comprehend why I didn't connect that.

Also, I've listened to all 250 Star Trek episodes and these are amongst my favourite ones.

Yeah, this quote from the article by @edzitron.com really got me:

For everyone saying that "it's just round the corner", it's a must read.

Do you repost a used cars salesman's pitches?

Why would you repost Sam's then?

Please read Professor @garymarcus.bsky.social 's article, it's both informative and morbidly funny.
“The essential read” on GPT-5 and Sam Altman’s first major blunder.

Well over 100,000 people have read it.

It's fascinating how our Diggers go places near the end of every episode.

I love their random banter.

But this one is of course a great discussion of an interesting film.

Highly recommended!
We really dug this film and the way it unpacks the complicated relationship between past and present, living and dead, wealth and poverty, plus Italian nonna's favoritism towards their granddaughter's ex-boyfriends.

This week, the GOP slid an amendment into the budget reconciliation process that would ban US states from enacting laws that govern AI.

This of course was not an aberration—it’s the direct result of Silicon Valley lobbying efforts, and big tech’s union with Trump and the Republican Party.

AI is not the future, people are.

Tech bros think that everything in the world can be diluted to an algorithm, and the reality times and again proves them wrong.

Music, graphics, art and competency cannot be generated.

Only hype can.

@garymarcus.bsky.social Professor, There's a growing number of people in my country, including the Deputy Minister of Education, and various academics, who claim that AGI is coming in 5+ years and that the tempo the current models are improving means they'll be able to reason soon. What's your take?

Did you consider watching Arrival? It might be somehow thematically related to what you like talking about.

I also wanted to suggest Scorpion King, I don't want to get banned;)
