ANU interim vice chancellor today announced no more forced redundancies under the Renew ANU program. Cuts are ongoing, but forced redundancies are off the table. It’s been a hard slog. Harms are ongoing. There’s still more work to do. I’m so proud of my colleagues, ANU community.

The Western world needs therapy. It does not know itself. Routinely "appalled" and "concerned" about the war crimes it arms, pays for, and covers up politically. It asks us to sever ourselves from reality in order to cope. On an individual level, this is unhealthy. On a societal level, it's suicidal

Another thing I keep thinking about — Miss Rachel’s confused, teary “I feel like I’m living in a nightmare where I keep having to explain that it’s wrong to starve children.”

We can get so wrapped up in the horror and the “it’s complicated” rhetoric that we lose the simple humanity of that.
