Hi folks, this is me. I come from a disadvantaged background including youth homelessness, teen parenthood, high school dropout, poverty & more. Education was my passport to life. Demography helped me realise I was never the problem; society is unequal & needs fixing. www.abc.net.au/listen/progr...

This week west Belconnen had major transport cuts, to accommodate works around Parliament House. ACT govt has been condescending and heartless over the loss for westies. Today govt is crying about the closure of a shop in the same area. Can’t have it both ways, ACT Labor. FFS.

Life was very messy for me growing up. I survived with the encouragement of educators and was able to overcome adversity.
I was lucky. But life shouldn't about luck. Policy can help young people like me thrive. Imagine a place where all kids get a go?! I explore this with The Smith Family.

Back-to-school stories ooze of smiling faces and shiny new things. Rarely do we see stories of those doing it tough. Not because the stories don’t exist in Australia, but because the reality of some young people’s lives is unpalatable. Don’t look away.

Fair pay. Better universities.

University staff need fair pay that keeps up with the cost of living. Food, rent, and bills haven’t stopped rising and neither should your pay. Hard work, sacrifice, and increased productivity should be recognised.
