No, not until the administrative systems can do what they need to do.
Data infrastructure isn’t mature enough to replace traditional census. Even with sample surveys. Data for hard to reach and minority populations will suffer. Population estimates and characteristics for Māori populations will be adversely impacted. NZ has had serious issues with census quality tho.

House prices over the last 20 years have put 40-somethings today in real trouble. There’s a great deal of chatter about young adults - but there’s an entire generation forgotten. Labor’s policies fail to address this. www.abs.gov.au/articles/bac...
