UK Labour Member. We won. Now let’s deliver. But taking money off vulnerable people is not the answer to the country’s problems. So let’s not do that 🫡
The Gov seems to think that if it can fix the immigration and asylum system by end-2026 that it will be enough to take the wind out of Farage’s sails. But to win the next election, they will also need to win back the voters it is losing to the Greens/LibDems. That’s the risky part of the strategy.

You left off Russia.

UK energy prices are tied to wholesale gas prices. Until that link is broken (and it will be broken at some point) our energy prices will remain artificially high. That’s the conundrum the government needs to break.

I’ve no idea what is being done behind the scenes or what has been said. But this problem actually started in the coalition years, when Cameron has heavily criticised for flooding the Board with Tory cronies and the LibDems, including Davey, did nout. It continued when the Dems were crushed in 2015.

Least surprising bit of news ever. It was so obvious that “YourParty” was going to quickly become “MyParty” given the massive ego involved.

Guessed it?

These are the words of Adnan Hussain MP in his letter announcing he is stepping away from Your Party.

It's going so well, isn't it?

Well, quite. And it seems increasingly obvious that the same man did not do a “deal” with the Murdoch press in the same way that Blair did.

I consider myself to be a man of my word. When campaigning for Labour last year I gave assurance after assurance to voters over the phone and in person that, if elected, the government would honour its pledge not to increase income tax or VAT. People are really struggling.

That’s not taxing people’s income.

I’m not entirely sure which group you are referring to but we already have working people on in-work benefits. And it is counter intuitive to increase public spending on childcare to help people back into work and then disincentive them by increasing their taxes.

Personal tax allowances have been frozen for years. That income group has already been clobbered with paying more in tax. We propped up businesses during Covid, it’s time to ask them to contribute more, not working people.

Ain’t that the truth! I know why my party if in difficulty but the LibDems have to ask themselves whey they are not beneficiaries from our woes. I think a lot of that is down to Ed. Viewed as a likeable clown and badly tarnished from the coalition days.

This place is full of Lib Dems who want to memory-hole 2010-15.
