Yet another example of the close interconnection of transphobic and ableist politics in the current period.
The last paragraph of the Sami Timimi interview in the tes magazine clearly confirms the reactionary politics of the anti-neurodiversity branch of anti-psychiatry. The interview was also praised by the hardcore neoliberal educationalist Tom Bennett.

Unsurprising development.
Two Labour ministers in Wes Streeting's Dept of Health & Social Care met with authors who believe mental health and neurodiversity-related condition are over-diagnosed.
This could be significant for Labour's imminent second assault on PIP payments.

Something I've learned is institutions treat inclusion less as a right and more as a kind of weapon, offering it where it benefits them and then subtly withdrawing it selectively, say, to punish or intimidate. In this dynamic even the acts of inclusion become a form of division and domination.

🚨 BREAKING: The government has tabled their plan to restrict repeat protests.

Demonstrations could now banned based on the 'cumulative disruption' that previous protests have caused in the area - regardless of if they have been organised by the same people or not.

This is worse than we feared.

Really useful piece from Dagmar Herzog analysing eroticised racism and sadistic ableism of contemporary far right movements and the historical continuities with Nazism. Definitely want to read the full book when I get a copy.
The New Fascist Body - Journal #157
Excerpted from Dagmar Herzog’s recent book, this text focuses on the way modern-day fascism is preoccupied with disability and "sexy racism.”

This is true but it's also what the Guardian has insisted on euphemising as "populism" for over a decade

The mainstreaming of far-right politics would not have happened without mainstream actors enabling it (see BBCQT etc). It's not too late to seriously reflect and change course.
Matt Goodwin’s stance on migration is pretty much indistinguishable from that of the BNP in the past 1990s and not a million miles from that of the NF in the 1970s.
Matt Goodwin attributes a crime that he now knows appears to have been committed by people born in Britain in the early 1990s to "mass uncontrolled immigration"

Young people are bearing the brunt of a worsening mental health crisis in the UK. 🔴

We've just released new analysis showing that the number of young people struggling with their mental health has more than doubled since 2009.

It's not just unfair, it's totally preventable.👉https://bit.ly/4orwdPz

Some rather ominous cases here.
Scoop: I sent a public record request to the FTC for complaints mentioning ChatGPT. I got 200 complaints back, but a couple stood out.

They described experiencing severe delusions, paranoia, and spiritual crises, and they attributed it to ChatGPT:
