the weirdest thing is there are at least two games on this list that I don't remember playing and cannot track down for the life of me. they'll be crossed out, but the mystery is currently unsolved
the 236 tiny indie games video essay script is almost 20 pages and i haven't finished talking about the games i selected, much less what I learned from them. this video is gonna be colossal

Not even joking that there's a whole lot some folks could learn about the *broad* flexibility in storytelling, narratives, framing, etc from fighting games and a lot of popular Japanese CRPGs. (Among other things, but just pointing to highly popular accessible examples.)
