Here’s what I learned: my previous Scotties all had cancers and orthopedic issues.
Don’t neuter them until after puberty.

I have 3 wonderful Scottish Terriers. All three are from a wonderful reputable breeder. The oldest is 6.
I’ve owned Scotties for close to 30 years. All (except the current ones) were neutered before they were 8 months old. (See next post).
