We haven't heard a peep from the Government RE: the letter they received from the UN, and the response was due on Monday.⏰

Disabled voices have been brushed off for months; welcome to the club, UN! Fancy a cuppa?☕
The UK Government from time to time finds itself in trouble with the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

The present Government, in keeping with tradition, has just been written to by the UN, expressing concern at the cuts to #DisabilityBenefits.

Murray "We need to be doing everything we possibly can [to get aid in]"

So you'll summon the Israeli Ambassador & demand that if unlimited aid isnt trucked in within 24hrs then all economic & military ties will be suspended, sanctions will be imposed & she'll be expelled

Right?

Politics is not a game. It's people's lives.

The Government's welfare cuts will have a catastrophic impact on the sick & disabled, and plunge hundreds of thousands of people into poverty.

It's simple: show some humanity and drop this Bill, now.

Starmer's changed Labour Party have revealed their true colours. What a vile bunch of bloodthirsty neoliberal charlatans they turned out to be, absolute betrayal of everything the party was founded on.

Labour MPs are rebelling against the government's plans for disability benefit cuts. The Big Issue got in touch to ask them why.

The UNCRPD has called for Canada to cease what it describes as the assisted suicide of patients based on “negative, ableist perceptions” because of “systemic failures” in essential services such as accessible housing, healthcare & employment support.

Sound familiar?

The UN just slammed Canada's assisted suicide laws - yet Labour wants the UK to be next?

I was wondering if this might happen.

Hungary didn't apply to withdraw from the ICC until after Netanyahu visited.

Besides, they remain signatories for a year after their application to leave, if indeed it has been formally made at all.
Wow. The International Criminal Court has opened proceedings against Hungary for failing to comply with the Court's request to arrest Benjamin Netanyahu and surrender him to the Court, and invited Hungary to provide submissions by 23 May 2025.

Fun fact: there was no debate either in the press nor parliament giving any reasons whatsoever for weed to be made illegal

It was just on a list of drugs the US had already made illegal & we followed suit because we're a vassal state

It was made illegal in the US mainly due to a racist moral panic

This Sunday is the annual "420 Day" in Hyde Park in London to protest against cannabis remaining illegal. The Metropolitan Police has made it clear that it plans a "strong and visible police presence" and is likely to make arrests.

So Londoners, you can all sleep safely in our beds...

Labour's rebrand, using Parliamentary colours and emblems, is taking on a pace.

I'm confused, though. Do I need to vote any longer, now that Parliament has representatives in our constituencies, rather than constituencies having representatives in Parliament?

Amazing—the arrogance of Labour MPs, especially the frontbench, in thinking they understand mental and physical health, behavioural science, risk, and what it would take to rebuild trust in the DWP better than ALL disabled people, health organisations, and researchers combined.

What’s announced is appalling—and we’ll fight it with every spoon we’ve got.

But the biggest threats (like PIP 4+ & LCWRA changes) are far off for existing claimants and there is transitional protection .

We have time.

We have each other.

Please don’t do anything rash x

The independent regulator has announced a £2,500 pay rise for MPs.

At a time when disabled people are facing the biggest cuts to disability benefits on record, this is simply wrong.

I’ll be donating mine to charities supporting disabled people in Coventry & across the country.

Yesterday, its co-director Hamdan Ballal was beaten in his home by settlers before being detained by Israeli forces.
