As expected, Peter Magyar - Orban’s opponent - intends to :

- suspend military aid to Ukraine
- maintain energy dependency on Russia
- put Ukraine’s membership to a referendum in Hungary

That’s the new Hungary

Really? If there’s one political ‘leader’ who’s proactively dismantled the EU is Manfred Weber - from enabling Viktor Orban, flirting with far-right parties and now governing with them in the EP to scrapping the green deal and next I’ll be the digital rulebook

He should act on what he preaches!
EPP leader Manfred Weber just gave a very good keynote speech on the future of Europe in Berlin tonight, putting forward seven principles for a stronger EU.

“The Omnibus fails to meet the constitutional standards the EU’s own legal order demands”.

That’s the conclusion reached by legal opinion endorsed by 100+ academics warning the Parliament about this dangerous precedent.

Well the EU is our governments
As predicted, the EU is ready to dismantle its Digital Rulebook as it did with the Green Deal.

It does so upon US administration’s demand and under Big Tech pressure.

It’s a self-inflicted political decision putting the EU on a deregulatory turn on.ft.com/47vqFOl

No government in the world operates with 2 alternative parliamentary majorities based on political convenience. Yet von der Leyen does precisely this, shifting from pro-EU mainstream majority to far-right (Venezuela) majority with impunity

She might do so again

My 10 cents: Europe could do the innovation and even the military innovation talked about by @eurobriefing.bsky.social if only Europe would stick to its, well, guns. For a deep dive on the EU chainsaw and why it's the wrong policy at the wrong time check out this episode with @alemanno.bsky.social.

Giving up an undertaking because there are too many obstacles is often a serious mistake: these obstacles are, on the contrary, the rough edges to which the action can attach itself.
