If today’s vote on Omnibus I passes with EPP+ECR+Patriots support, it establishes the operational majority for the rest of von der Leyen's term

This will have major economic and societal consequences at the time these groups chose Trump over the EU

Fascinating. After lobbying for the watering down of the Green Deal, EU companies and their trade associations don’t want look bad today.
Here’s their little-credible last-minute call to the EU Parliament to save the Omnibus compromise with centrist parties. Policy washing!

The EU is turning increasingly to omnibus legislation — a tool promising speed and simplicity.

But at what constitutional cost?

ALBERTO ALEMANNO (@alemanno.bsky.social) warns that this tool risks eroding transparency, evidence, and participation in lawmaking.

Have to agree with @alemanno.bsky.social. Reliance on omnibus legislation erodes rule of law in its law-making aspects & will have to be critically reviewed in next edition of the @ceudeminst.bsky.social rule of law clinic report on the EU

"When #omnibus legislation is employed to systematically avoid impact assessments, bypass consultation periods, and skip the evidentiary requirements increasingly required to satisfy the principle of proportionality, it ceases to be a neutral procedural tool."

Really? If there’s one political ‘leader’ who’s proactively dismantled the EU is Manfred Weber - from enabling Viktor Orban, flirting with far-right parties and now governing with them in the EP to scrapping the green deal and next I’ll be the digital rulebook

He should act on what he preaches!
EPP leader Manfred Weber just gave a very good keynote speech on the future of Europe in Berlin tonight, putting forward seven principles for a stronger EU.

As expected, Peter Magyar - Orban’s opponent - intends to :

- suspend military aid to Ukraine
- maintain energy dependency on Russia
- put Ukraine’s membership to a referendum in Hungary

That’s the new Hungary

She might do so again
