Since the 1950s, Summer Language Workshops at Indiana University have provided training in Russian, East European, and Central Asian languages. Generations have come to Bloomington to study Romanian, Polish, Kazakh, etc.

I'm saddened to learn about the passing of Anson Rabinbach, who was a wonderful scholar and the most supportive mentor I could have hoped for as an undergraduate student. Colleagues at the University of Wisconsin are collecting memories via the link in @jennifervevans.bsky.social's post.
The great intellectual historian Anson Rabinbach, passed away a few days ago in Rome after a fall. The folks over at the George Mosse Program in Wisconsin have set up an online page to capture memories and reminiscences for friends and family. It is available here:
