My hot take is that none of these are structure. These are all recipes that describe structure.
Structure is the Salt, Fat, Acid Heat of writing.
3-Act/Hero's Journey etc are recipes.
You can make great meals without using a recipe if you understand the principles of structure.

So #WritingCommunity how do we feel about structure?
Do you use the 3 act structure? The 5 act?
Hero's Journey? Save the Cat? Super Structure Method? Story Genius Method?
Something else?
What have you got?

It really is superb, do watch it if you haven't already.
Both seasons of Interview with the Vampire are on Netflix. One of the best literary adaptations in the history of television, it takes all the source material's strengths and transmogrifies all its weaknesses, like The Terror. Cruel, disgusting, sexy as fuck. Plus: Eric Bogosian! Do not walk, RUN.

Lovely thread, this.
Just before he died I got to chat to Brian Clemens as part of a press junket for a remaster of The Professionals.
After about 3 polite-but-bored answers I said:
"Okay would you mind if we spent the rest of this talking about 'Bugs'? That show BLEW ME AWAY as a teen."
And he was so happy he cried.

Anyway. Guess the moral here (like in the original post) is that WHATEVER you love a creator for from their work output, do tell them if you get a chance.
It's not always the big stuff they loved the most. And there's no high like being told something you loved making was loved by someone else.

Never seen Avatar or Avengers:Endgame, and never read Harry Potter (despite being just about the perfect age to read it).
Inspired by a post I just saw in which someone admitted they hadn’t seen a single episode of Friends nor the film Love Actually… what cultural hole do you have that’s a bit weird for your generation?
I’ll go first: I haven’t seen Dirty Dancing.

The most common error I see as a book editor is incorrectly punctuated dialogue.
NO: “Nice to meet you.” She said.
YES: “Nice to meet you,” she said.
NO: “Likewise.” The editor said.
YES: “Likewise,” the editor said.
NO: She smiled, “Hi."
YES: She smiled. “Hi.”

Got to be Zelda, I think it's the only franchise that's got a really consistent throughline from childhood to adulthood for me. Obsessed with the NES version as a kid, Ocarina of Time still one of the best game experiences I've ever had, and Breath of the Wild got me back into gaming.

Watched One Battle After Another last night - my first thought on coming out of the cinema was that it was a little over-hyped, and I think that's probably still the case, but I like it more and more every time I think about it, it's growing on me. Well worth a watch.

Where now for Britain’s Universities?
UK higher education now faces a very bleak future, retreating in the face of little public sympathy and limited political interest.
