If you love literary SFF with beautiful prose, this is the short story for you. It's so very excellent!
my story "The Heartbreak Hotel on Plutonic Planet" is out at Strange Horizons!! Read on for a world where if you break your heart, you immediately go to Pluto. Why? There is no why. that's it. also, there's an ice rink and teenage angst.

The Heartbreak Hotel on Plutonic Planet
I ended up on Pluto on the night of my nineteenth birthday, after breaking my own stupid heart. It wasn’t even over anything important.

@thomasha.bsky.social is a master of ambiguity and atmosphere, both of which are at the forefront in "In My Country" clarkesworldmagazine.com/ha_04_25/

I may have already mentioned this one (because it's Extremely Fun and I really enjoy it) but @emlinden.bsky.social's story "How to Fail at Book-Smuggling (Across Several Timelines at Once)" is exactly what it sounds like and a total delight.

How to Fail at Book-Smuggling (Across Several Timelines at Once), by E.M. Linden
It’s only after Cloud’s funeral that we realise none of us can remember why we followed her in the first place. No-one, that is, except for Robbie. He stowed away, he claims, and kept a clear head.…

Ah so glad this one worked for you! :D
This is a great story by the always excellent Tia Tashiro. It plays skillfully with PoV to tell a gorgeous story of relationships and identity. Read it if you haven't.

The titular novella in the recent release, "Disgraced Return of the Kap's Needle" was written beautifully, as I've come to expect from @renanbernardo.com, with an absolute gut-punch of an ending. Ouch (complimentary)

Also wanted to shout out @angelaliu.bsky.social's "Brainstem Disco, 2191," which I had the pleasure of hearing Angela read at Worldcon this year—getting to hear the referenced music alongside the short story was 10/10, and really upped the emotional beats

Just finished "Descent" by @wtalabi.bsky.social and wow, what a vivid story! Extremely gripping novella, with a fascinating exploration of the world of Órino-Rin and great character work. Love when a story really puts the sci in sci-fi <3

it was a blast and the buttons were delightful indeed!
one of my worldcon highlights was meeting @shortficbookclub.bsky.social irl. They jumpscared me with nametag pins w/ different Dave variations (from Day Ten Thousand!!), including one for me, and it was the MOST delightful surprise. (also, a wild @tiatashiro.bsky.social in the flesh in the selfie)

@tiatashiro.bsky.social always writes the best openings and her new story in @clarkesworldmagazine.com is no exception. Really love what she did here with the second person POV.
