I think all of us need to keep evaluating our beliefs every single day. Communication is key. Understanding is essential. Action is required.

The unfettered right to vote is as American as motherhood, baseball and apple pie.

It's the cornerstone of our democracy.

The Supreme Court must uphold the Voting Rights Act and the Constitutional protection against racial gerrymandering.

Something to think about
I can’t tell you exactly how I know but after sixty years in and around politics I’ve developed a sixth sense, and my sixth sense tells me the tide is now turning on Trump.

This past week did it. https://robertreich.substack.com/p/the-sleeping-giant-is-awakening

If you’re not at the table, you’re probably on the menu!

Remain vigilant and be prepared to act on your behalf and on your country’s behalf.

My concern remains that our political leaders aren’t thinking about the holistic cost of withdrawing from many of our commitments both to our own people and to iconic national image as a shining castle on a hill.

We are no longer a beacon of hope for others. What have we gained at such a cost?

When thinking about this Epstein debacle, an old friend asked these questions that apply to all of us:

- what do we choose to look at?
- what do we choose to ignore?
- what does that say about who we are becoming as a country?

Let’s find time to think about the larger challenges

Oh hell!

There’s a summer COVID surge called the “nimbus variant.” I don’t know who comes up with these names, but if you’re sick, please stay home.

Razor‑blade throat: standout symptom—feeling like razor blades or broken glass. It’s often extremely painful when swallowing.

Thought for the day -

Government gains legitimacy not solely from who holds power, but from how that power is constrained.

If restraint collapses, then those who still cherish our republic must redefine duty not as obedience, but as conscience.

The choice is ours and history is watching.

-A living wage
-Guaranteed healthcare
-The right to join a union
-The right to vote
-The right to choose when, how, and with whom you start a family
-The right for you and your family to live free from gun violence

These are the foundations of real freedom.

July 5th matters as much as July 4th. And the work of liberty is never finished.

If you are feeling unsettled today, you are not alone.

You are awake.

Today is a day to reflect on our democracy. Is the bright light America has cast across the world dimmer because our our internal political divisions. I believe each of us must honor our role in democracy today and challenge our leaders where they need it.

A day we should all remember. Visit the battlefield yourself- a truly humbling place to recall how our country struggles to move to freedom in our experiment with democracy
162 years ago today, 262 average men from Minnesota saved the Union by sacrificing themselves at the Battle of Gettysburg.

In dire times for the country, a bunch of farmers, frontiersmen, shopkeepers, and lawyers from the newest state stood up for something greater than themselves.
