I'm a person. I love to learn. the outdoors, weather, dogs, hiking, and most of all my husband. He's pretty awesome. My background is nuclear and marine engineering and I work as a research and development engineer.
I am deeply saddened to learn about Susan Stamberg's passing. A true female pioneer in broadcasting and the mother of NPR. She will be deeply missed. We will make some of Mama Stamberg's famous cranberry relish in her honor this Thanksgiving. Thank you for so many wonderful driveway moments Susan!

My first cup of coffee in the full size and absolutely beautiful mug my loving husband skillfully crafted for me! I love the colors so much! It's just beautiful. Nice thin rim, great hand feel, and perfect! Thank you @brewergnome.bsky.social

My husband only five weeks in to learning how to throw clay. Already punching way above average and really knocking it out of the park! I absolutely LOVE watching him create and the joy the process brings. I think he loves to learn as much as I do!
Mixed bag, but generally good, today! Started out with some trimming. First up my 2lb bowl, which is not nearly as squashed as this photo looks. 🧶

Luckily I found a wheel that caught the edge of the drying fan so I didn't die. First throw, a bowl! Was super happy, very even... then I somehow threw a lump into it and the edge got wonky, still good.

Back at it! My glaze stuff went into the kiln but isn't back yet. Likely tomorrow. First, some wedging of the new clay. Yesterday's rainbow still too wet to re-wedge. 🧶

So the Reconciliation bill removed the legislative block to killing de minimis, and now the WH is going ahead with actually killing it in practice.

So basically, the WH says, "Fuck you random USian who wants to buy a tool or piece of cloth, and especially fuck you nano businesses."
White House just ended the de minimis exemption for all commercial shipments.

You can really see my skill progression from "first thing that was saveable" (the white pot) to my first wobbly espresso cup, to my "almost even" pot, to my "oh that's actually like... rightish" pouring bowl.

Some unexpected alchemy in these, and some expected.

Pottery was a mixed bag today. It was SO HOT and humid even with my cooling vest I was sweating and it was hard to really get into the groove. But we started by sending off two small cups and my mushroom pot to bisque firing. 🧶

Today in the studio started rough. Tried a new wheel and... it did not like me. REALLY jumpy footpedal. Flung the bowl I was going to sgraffito and totalled it. But! That was really the only full fail. 🧶

Some of the extract will be used to make mint ice-cream for sure. Some may also go into cleaning agents (We mix vinegar, vegi surfactant and water for much of our cleaning) for the pleasant smell. I'm not sure what I'll use the rest for. Maybe I'll give some away if it comes out well.

Amen! Yes!
So the next President should unilaterally dismantle DHS, zero out all the Xai/SpaceX contracts, and re-fund all the science agencies 3X over, right? Should all be legal according to SCOTUS.

But no City agency has posted it on this platform.

Please help spread the word.

Technically speaking, a 1-in-1000 year rainfall event happened yesterday in Florida as well.

So, maybe he should also just bring charges in his own state against DeSantis.

DHS recently showed up in force at the Puerto Rican museum in Chicago's Humboldt Park. Puerto Ricans are, of course, US citizens, so I think DHS was basing their show of force solely on the amount of melanin in the area.

Couldn't agree more. Absolute trash!
LLMs could actually be a good thing. It could improve translation, summarize input from hundreds of people, help the disabled, etc.

But, instead, the industry is making sure LLMs are a tool for theft, lies, and control. Grok is blatent, but the tip of the iceberg.
