My new hat arrived in the mail today. Custom made by LaRose Hat Company, it's a denim train engineer's hat. Very comfortable, and hopefully will last me for years to come.

Life is so exhausting since trump took office. Everyday I hear the news and it's like: "President signs executive order making it legal to kick puppies, Democrats say this order is not legal but will do nothing about it" immediately followed by a headline like "puppy kicking has increased by 20%"

Apparently there’s a “kickoff” meeting between the DOGE people and Department of Labor management planned for tomorrow at 4pm ET.

Unrelatedly, the Frances Perkins Building that houses the Dept of Labor is located at 200 Constitution Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20210.

I went to my Congressman's local office today. First off, they were surprised that I was there. They said they had been getting phone calls, but I was the first walk-in. That said, the phones were not ringing off the hook. If the DC phone lines are busy, try calling the local office.

In other annoying news, I went outside. in the sun. And it fucking helped my stupid mental health.

We have to take over the Democratic Party at the individual county level in state after state. We have to glamorize community and field work while actually showing tangible attempts at improving lives with roadmaps for future policies.

Or we do nothing and old men post tuna sandwiches memes.

Somebody yelled at me for posting about Ganymede instead of /the state of things/ last night.

I know we’re (almost) all on the same page here, but a Bluesky without cute cats, science facts, and dumb jokes would be bad for everyone.

It actually is very important that you do things that you take pleasure in, regularly. That is part of how you survive the things that feel like they are going to destroy you.

I want to be clear about where we stand with the EO:

The battlefield is now revealed. We know the pieces on it and their plans. It doesn't mean its lost or immediate.

But Trump has fired his first shot.

Implementation will take time and challenges are sure to come. Stay strong, its a marathon.

It feels bizarre that TikTok is gone. Maybe it'll come back, if not something else will replace it. Maybe something will replace it anyway. No matter what happens, this feels like an important moment and not in a good way
