This is exactly me. Very excited to have new Robin Hood. Even when it's not great, it's so great.

They're actually gonna release the Doctor Who Series 10 soundtrack. I cannot believe it.

Media tracker app @trakt.tv is forcing all paid users onto their new $60/y pricing. This comes after the free tier was crippled earlier in the year. Users are cancelling en masse. Reasonable posts on their subreddit are being deleted by moderators. This is how you kill a service. #trakt

I know we live in a world of narcissists but I genuinely don't think this would be a bad thing. It sounds utopian to me.
Creating is good. It isn't always a cry for attention.
And it'd suck big time if we started demonising the act of creation because "we've got enough stuff".
Someday, everyone will have their own podcast.

This is why I couldn't be less interested in AI music. I listen to music to think about the people who created it and to talk about it with other people who are listening to exactly the same pieces. It's only good because other people are involved, even and especially when listening alone.
the problem with a story, essay, etc written by LLM is that i lose interest as soon as you tell me that’s how it was made. i have yet to see one that’s ‘good’ but i don’t doubt the tech will soon be advanced enough to write ‘well.’ but i’d rather see what a person thinks and how they’d phrase it

the thing with corporations being legal persons is that they are also the worst persons. even your average human coward might need a little pressure applied to make them bend the knee, but the corporation, it comes pre-bent, tongues out sniffing for a boot

As someone who's used Trakt for 12 years, I'm pretty disappointed with the direction they're taking.
I can no longer recommend Trakt

1) Tom Cruise creates one of the most expensive pieces of anti-AI propaganda ever.
2) A YouTube channel uses AI to create a dreadful "concept trailer" for it and gets over a million views in two days.

Meta illegaly downloaded 80+ terabytes of books from LibGen, Anna's Archive, and Z-library to train their AI models.

In 2010, Aaron Swartz downloaded only 70 GBs of articles from JSTOR (0.0875% of Meta). Faced $1 million in fine and 35 years in jail. Took his own life in 2013.

Google announced significant changes to its artificial intelligence policy this week.

This pivot from refusing to build AI for weapons to stating an intent to create AI that supports national security ventures is stark, and it sparks serious human rights concerns.
