Yeah I don't see how this changes the equation. It's still Proton doing the same thing, just presented in a slimmed down app.

Thankfully there are some solid open source alternatives out there: Ryot, Yamtrack, MediaTracker, Watcharr.

I've been enjoying SearXNG for a while now, it's particularly great if you customise your settings a little, and you can even self-host it searx.space
