Teen Vogue took young people seriously. It's impossible to overstate how important, how rare, and how profoundly needed that is.

This is incorrect. If your people group has never gone through colonization, mass sterilization, or medical experimentation, you don’t understand the full scope of eugenics as part of a racial project.
this entire made up controversy is driving me nuts. I have a genetic disease. I’ve written about eugenics. Not everything is eugenics!

Daniel Hahn: "what AI can do is not yet a threat to human translators and human readers of sophisticated, textured human writing. The threat is what some people think it can do."

AI won’t replace us human literary translators just yet
Yes, it can turn French words into English ones, but true translation is so much more than that

tbh I kind of think the increased use of language like "consume" and "content" about art and the experiencing of it is part of what led us to this shit timeline where everything seems disposable and people are happy to let a delusional robot do their writing for them

Well, my main thought is that it is too mid to be destroying labor and the earth for.
There are a lot of critiques of LLMs that I agree with but "they suck and aren't useful" doesn't really hold water.

I understand people not using them because of social, economic, and environmental concerns. And I also understand people using them because they can be very useful.

Thoughts?

There's this idea that artists should accept shitty treatment from absolute strangers because said strangers might theoretically be "a customer" at some point.

I do not find this hypothesis compelling.
