I like to think I don't have that many nits to pick about Excel, but can someone please explain to me why every major office update ereases my quick access shortcuts? I trained that muscle memory for a damn reason.

While discussing my 80,000 word and growing fic of doom with the husband last night, I showed him the tab in my project excel file that is just dedicated to tracking character ages. Over 30 characters for a story that will span about 45-ish years. He made a strangled sound and ran away.

The first time I ever punched a boy in the face I was 14 years old, punching a 14 year old boy, because he asked me how much I'd charge to suck him off under the bleachers. It was 1989.

More people need to remember the three F's when it comes to giving thinly disguised directives to strangers regarding what tools they choose to use. To wit: if you aren't feeding, funding, or f**king me, you don't get a say in any of it.

I dunno how common this is, but I find that I write almost exactly the way I paint. I take a rough idea and stare at it for ages, get lost in detail, figure out what the actual shape should be, work slowly and painfully on *more* details until I hit a point where anything more feels like "too much".
