My first real job out of college was in the "new media" division of a catalog print shop. This was 1999, way before cloud services were a thing. We ran our own webservers and DNS servers locally. And then one Monday I hit the wrong switch and took the whole shebang offline. Funtimes.

But now? I can now type "i need to do X then Y to this dataset, and I'm using office 2016" and I get three options that work!

People started using this tool because it solved a very real issue.

Ex: I do a lot of work in excel. there's a special misery in trawling Stack Overflow hoping someone, somewhere had a use case similar enough to what im trying to do that I can port *that* fix to my actual issue.

I'm getting the feel like she fell into the trap of thinking being an expert in one thing makes her an expert in this other, unrelated thing.

Did movie novelizations just stop being a thing? I absorbed *so* many B movies via bargin-bin novels when I was a kid.
