Here's a brief fun story about going local. 🧵
Go to ground.

Go local. Meet all your neighbors. Protect them from ICE. Make yourself available for anything large or small. Make pots of soup. Share what you have. Ask for help when you need it and give help when you can.

fwiw, i don’t personally think that either doomerism OR toxic positivity is what this moment calls for; i think what we actually need to be collectively looking towards is a secret third thing (hopepunk)

it’s cool and important to give a shit, and to look for ways to help each other.

CLARIFICATION :

The Trevor Project's hotline will still be live. But basically this means LGBTQ people can no longer be connected to it through the US national 988 suicide prevention hotline.

They will need to be contacted DIRECTLY

So spread this around

They can be texted. They can be called.

The gunman no doubt thought of himself as a good person, as someone who was pro-life, but his ideology brought him to a place where he shot 17 bullets into a couple who got into politics to help get health insurance for his daughter, who has spina bifida.
John Hoffman and Yvette Hoffman were hit by a combined 17 bullets from the Minnesota assassin, and both survived and are now recovering. Yvette shielded their daughter.

HARD STOP
This is on ICE. If ICE wasn’t terrorizing the country and deporting people with no due process this would not have happened.
GRAPHIC WARNING!⛔️

Yesterday a protester was shot in the head as Los Angeles riot police fired rubber bullets, during an anti-ICE protest. The police refused to call an ambulance or help. The media does not report this, why? Showing only the "violent rioters" but how about the Police?

What do the coins mean?
A penny: A veteran visited.
A nickel: The visitor was in basic with them.
A dime: The visitor served with them in some direct capacity.
A quarter: The visitor was with them when they passed.
The coins should remain undisturbed.
