As I continue to work on the next episode of Parliamentary California. I only keep the Lt. Gov directly elected; but there elected by the people for a single 8 year term.
What is your guys opinion of transgender guys playing in all girls sports? I understand why some people don’t like it because some say it leads to unfair advantages.

If we want to be a democracy, we have to respect the differences of people's opinions. For instance, I have a coworker at my job who told me that they don't believe transgender guys should play in all girls sports. I disagree with my coworker, but I still respect their viewpoint.
I am not a fan of Newsom using the term California derangement syndrome because it feels very similar to Trump Derangement Syndrome. Are we just going to say to people who disagree with us that they have symptoms of derangement syndrome?

Congress not being informed by the President authorizing military action in Venezuela to capture Maduro is what will help happen in Presidential systems, in which the executive and legislature are separately elected. If we’re a parliamentary, the executive would require to report to Congress b/c

How do you feel about the council-manager model for cities? If you made it so that the manager must be a member of the council, then it basically becomes a parliamentary system.

It would be interesting to try municipal party-list proportional representation!

Presidentialism is a crappy form of democracy. But by any standard the US sucks at it even more.

It's long past time to vastly limit the power of the Presidency and make the House a larger multiparty assembly via proportional representation. Like do that via statute in 100 days of 2029.
The failure of our elites to hold Trump accountable for January 6th is as disgraceful as what happened on that awful day.

Since 2010, 35 democratic leaders around the world have been criminally convicted. Only Trump went unpunished and unconstrained.

Now he threatens democracy at home and abroad.

Mamdani is a breath of fresh air, but at the same time I’m worried that the American political tradition of ”checks and balances” leads us to hang all our hopes on a single human.

I thought Trump wanted to put America first, and not engage in regime change wars.

The Task Force’s report recommends exploring the reintroduction of fusion voting, among other reforms.

The biggest reason why I believe Congress determines constitutionality as they have the power to propose constitutional amendments. Although, it is difficult to do. They can still check a Court ruling by proposing an amendment to the Constitution to overturn their decision.
According to the APPC Civics Knowledge Survey, 59% of Americans believe the Supreme Court determines constitutionality. I mean, I understand, the Courts do interpret the law and decide whether it complies with the Constitution. But in my opinion, Congress determines constitutionality.

The Democrats dont need a "Project 2029", they need a "Project 2027: Reconstruction 2.0"

1. Pack the Union
2. Remove Trump, Vance, and the entire cabinet
3. Add six amendments to the Constitution:
- Increase the size of the House and tie its size to a self-enforcing ratio
- Abolish the Senate

Jones: Everything you hear from Tuberville is framed as a sports analogy. When you view everything that way, you’re always stuck in an us-versus-them, winners-versus-losers mentality. That’s how he operates.

But the fact that communities across Alabama are suffering is not a game.

I am not a fan of members from one party changing parties like this. If your constituents elected you as a member of that party in the previous election you should be required to stay with that party in my opinion.

Two main differences between Presidential and Parliamentary systems. In Presidential systems, it is more focused on a personalized approach that focuses on a candidate's personal traits. In Parliamentary systems, the parties are much stronger, institutionalized, disciplined, and cohesive.

Very educational about the problems of STV / P-STV.
- No threshold
- Long ballots
- Vote leakage

This is why I think the next generation of proportional representation in America should be some form of list PR!

Just listened to this radio debate about the repeal of Proportional Representation in New York. Very interesting that the debate eventually illuminates that the core issue is that communists have gotten 2-3% of the vote and thus have representation on the city council.

“The day we stop believing democracy can work is the day we lose it.”

This was a quote from Star Wars Episode 2 Attack of the Clone Wars spoken by the Queen of Naboo. We must keep believing in democracy if we are to preserve it for future generations.
