📚Wonderful to be at the @cstvoice.bsky.social annual conference.

🎶Amazing performance by pupils from Wicked 🧙‍♀️ to kick the day off.

😂 (Subtle message of pupils to leaders via lyrics: “unadulterated loathing” and “such strong detestation” 😂) #CSTConf25

@thewayofkueh.bsky.social says we need to see a joined up approach to education. It’s important for the government to set out how initiatives will connect. For example what will be the way that curriculum reform, following the review, will link up with promised SEND reforms? #EducationFest

Through our Plan for Change, we'll get tens of thousands more children – a record share – hitting key development targets so they're school-ready.

It's ambitious, rightly. Children growing up in our country deserve the best start.

Since 2022 when I became a subject lead for Humanities I have discovered just how powerful a rigorous, coherent RE curriculum can be and how much it underpins and complements other subjects. Important words from Richard Kueh here.

A really thoughtful and well written article by from @thewayofkueh.bsky.social in today’s TES. He clearly sets out the problems of RE as a Cinderella subject, but also recognises the incredible possibilities that come with high quality RE.

This graph is visually boring, but is completely fascinating to me.

It's the share of people who "believe there is life after death."

It's actually gone UP, just slightly since 1973.

Even as religious attendance and affiliation have dropped exponentially.

Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;

For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.

Rest in peace, Dawn. We miss you, so very much.

👏 Really encouraged by this, and hope that there will be a positive, practical and persuasive pathway given for RE.

📖 This interim report used as evidence my final “Deep and Meaningful?” Ofsted RE report, showing that *lack of shared standards around content* in RE leads to *national disparities*

You hear a lot of arguments about the abstract need to "slim down" the curriculum.

In our latest post I suggest 2 primary topics that could be cut - but I also warn against overall reductions of content, as this will lead to lower standards.
