Military spending means more jobs in procurement, manufacturing, supply chain, administration etc.
If you’re afraid of job cuts but are against increasing defence spending, it’s not really about the cuts is it?

I wish Jean Chrétien was the PM in this modern era. He wouldn’t take shit from anyone complaining. Hed simply say “too bad. This is what we need to do to erase the deficit and increase our GDP and you need to deal with it”

So you would keep the DST to collect $2B in digital taxes, throwing a dozen other industries under the tariff bus that costs the economy tens of billions in steel, car, timber and other resources? We haven't had a DST before, we don't need it now - except as a negotiation tool.

I took a lot of peace and conflict studies in university and avoidance was always up there on what not to do.

Avoiding conflict by not inviting certain g7 members and leaders with interests in key conversations, is absolutely one of the worst things you could do for global diplomacy and relations.

I’m starting to read 1984 for the first time (I know, I know) and I can’t help thinking that the left is also contributing to an Orwellian society by erasing history instead of using it as a teachable moment. Package it up, send it up the tube and forget it existed.

I believe fully in what #Woke stands for, but it is the single worst attempt at branding a movement in political history. Ultimately, it has done far more to harm the progressive cause than to help it.
