G'day to all US scientists. Australia will welcome you with open arms. We need you. Federal election here on May 3 - if Labor continues to govern 🤞, please apply to move here. If LNP wins, be aware that its leader, Peter Dutton, is a Trump fan. Be way more careful in that situation. #auspol

there are like three overlapping scandals with signalgate — illegal distribution of sensitive government materials by top members of the administration, illegal attempt to circumvent records laws and possible unlawful use of military force — and democrats should be screaming about them all

One of Trump's latest attempts to disenfranchise and alienate US voters. Australia, we do not want this type of politics here. Dutton supports Trump. Remember that.

THIS should terrify everyone. Trump wants to steal the right to vote from all non-white bodied Americans, and further rig our system to help billionaires stay in power, and keep struggling Americans struggling.

The only way this is going to end, is in a civil war in the US.

Or a World war.

The US is compromised, corrupt and profoundly fascistic.

The Trump Administration Accidentally Texted Me Its War Plans
U.S. national-security leaders included me in a group chat about upcoming military strikes in Yemen. I didn’t think it could be real. Then the bombs started falling.

Also let’s be clear about why they’re talking over Signal — they are attempting to skirt their obligations under the federal record preservation laws and ensure no records exists for public review.

It’s incredibly illegal, but what do they do that isn’t?

What you have to understand about Pete Hegseth copying and pasting war plans into Signal is that it almost certainly means he’s got classified documents on his personal UNSECURE devices. Signal isn't on a secure device...are our war plans on his personal devices? @jeffreygoldberg.bsky.social

Jeffrey Goldberg and Pete Hegseth. One takes DOD protocols seriously:

Goldberg:

—Did not disclose sensitive information; and
—Left the chat when clear he was on chain (errantly) w/classified plans

I'm no lawyer, but it seems like discussing war plans in Signal outside a SCIF is maybe just a little bit worse than using a private server to send emails that weren't even marked as classified. But what do I know.
