When all seems hopeless Science is the light
Pinned
(Part 1) An underrated truth of science is that it requires faith in those who are experts in different areas. How can we build this trust at a younger age? How can we connect with those that are versed in truths that are different from our own? To do this it requires community.

Who are we to say that Jesus is the pinnacle of our understanding of God? Maybe that was the best we could understand at the time. We believe that God can’t die, and Jesus is a symbol of that. Then why do we think God dies if we move beyond Jesus. What if God is calling us through science.

The billionaire class wants everybody else to be perfect, so they don't have to be. They want to control everything and have zero expectations on themselves.

You know how, in the movies, Presidents or anyone in the government is wise, put together, honest and stable? Man, Hollywood has its work out for it if the current administration is any indication of how people in government are going to be.

The thing about narcissists and people with narcissistic traits is that they all have the same playbook. It would be fascinating except for the destruction they cause to those unfortunate enough to love them.

What’s the most significant advice you received from a teacher?

I had a Geology prof who always said “have strong opinions, loosely held”

Be passionate, assess alternatives with conviction, take sides. But don’t fall so in love with your opinions that you can’t change them with better data.

Roman bronze dragon’s head standard, AD 190-260.

Originally mounted on a pole, with a long fabric tube attached to the back of the head. When charging on horseback, the wind inflated the tube and the dragon shrieked!

For @msmagazine.com, I wrote about the WNBA and the issue of pay equity. By the time the WNBA was only two seasons in (1999-2000) the average NBA salary was 58 times higher than the average WNBA salary. Twenty-six years later, the gap has jumped to 116 times higher.

Life would have been so much simpler if our brains responded the same way all the time. But they don't. Even the time of day may affect how we respond to something. Perception of that time of day, is regulated in turn by neuromodulators, like adenosine. 🧪

Never really listened to ”Haim” Until “I Quit”. It’s great! After listening to the album I got curious and found some interviews with them. They are a hoot Together. So fun!
