Hey folks! My latest video, examining if the Roman's attempt to conquer Ireland, is now live over on youtube! We had a lot of fun making this one on location over in Anglesey and Ireland so I hope you all enjoy it!

I'm currently about 70% of the way through writing my next gaming video essay (on the weird legacy of the game Myst) and the word count is already reaching 'uh oh' territory.

Mind if I tell a mammoth story?

I used to live a mile away from Qagnax Cave on St Paul Island, Alaska. This was the 80s, 10 years before the mammoth bones were discovered. Near miss, I had no idea I was hiking near the last mammoths.

Kinda wish Games Workshops old Inquisitor game had taken off long term, not because I particularly enjoyed playing it, but because then I could get away with just painting four models and then bam that's an army.

Important update: writing about unicorns now
Sadly reporting that I have now finished writing about mammoths 😔

Why am I, a 36 year old adult, once again feeling compelled to listen to the DK rap?

It is 2 degrees outside and somehow we still have flies wandering in through the windows

Feeling super nostalgic for the old Walking With Dinosaurs/Walking With Beasts BBC series and having to convince myself to not spend the whole day rewatching them.

We didn't get any of the snow we were promised the last few days so here's an old pic of Jasper enjoying a winter wonderland.

I have no idea if this is controversial or not but as someone who has read a good chunk of Stephen King's more popular works I think his most valuable contribution to art is in giving us first draft versions of stories that other people have adapted into something way better.

Someone asked me about when I was gonna do a pathologic video on here so fuck it that's a good enough excuse to repost this.
The second part of my Pathologic 2 video essay is now live over on youtube! This time we're diving deep into the game's weird world and story, examining its themes, characters and even drawing comparisons to real life Russian history. Check it out!
Pathologic 2 is weird... and I love it

Going through the slight mental dusting myself off atm of having shown a piece of fiction I wrote to several friends and other writers and then largely gotten responses that ranged from mildly positive to 'meh' to 'I dunno dude this kinda sucks you should try something else.'

Had some random sales person try to flatter me by saying I look 25. Nice try lady but I didn't put all this work into looking like a 40 year old ogre to be lied to like that.

I'm aware some of this is self inflicted as its been a while since my last video essay content, but my impression is almost everyone over a certain size is being affected so I find it hard to put the blame on myself entirely.
Boy I sure do love youtube's new algorithm, where a video that seemed to be getting really good engagement in all the ways they tell you they want can see its views just suddenly slashed by 80% for no reason.
