In this story I make a detailed study of the beginning of MMORPGs in Brazil, one of the most remarkable periods of my life.

My main inspiration was an essay by @felipepepe.bsky.social, I recommend reading his texts if you are interested in the history of video games from a more global perspective.
"Level Up was a key company in the early days of the MMORPG market in Brazil, contributing significantly to mainstreaming Asian pop culture beyond Japan."

The video game media moves a passionate industry, for good and for bad. But tragedy always stands out in the news.

Fortunately, this Super Jump new series offers a minimal periodic dose of optimism for us.
Introducing "Good in Gaming", a new series highlighting acts of kindness, generosity, and inclusivity within the games industry.

Very happy that @thegamelogicist.bsky.social read my article on game history gentrification and wrote this: www.superjumpmagazine.com/the-early-ye...

It chronicles the close relationship of Brazilians with Korean MMOs like Ragnarok & Grand Chase, to the point where the devs made an in-game BR city.

Citizen Sleeper is one of the few interesting and well-written video games comparable to great science fiction books. I'm curious to see more of the universe created by Gareth Damian Martin.

There are some science fiction animations that are very nostalgic for me, sometimes I wonder how much animations like these from the late 1980s to early 2000s influenced me in some way. I think I lived through a good time for animation in this genre.

Sometimes I'm impressed by the creativity of game developers in the face of technical limitations, as in the case of Rescue: The Embassy Mission, a 1988 tactical shooter with stealth elements and almost 8-bit FPS gameplay.

Sometimes art has an impressive ability to create wonderful characters that transcend a grotesque aesthetic.

- "Boy Bitten by a Lizard" (1593–1594), Caravaggio
- "The Hunchback of Notre-Dame" (1883), Victor Hugo
- "The Elephant Man" (1980), David Lynch
- "Inside" (2016), Arnt Jensen

I'm curious to see what Monolith Soft can do on a more powerful console, and I'd especially like to see a new IP for the Nintendo Switch 2.
At this very moment, Monolith Soft is working on a big Switch 2 RPG.
