This is an important offseason for the Orioles

An A+ offseason makes them contenders again

A C offseason tilts them towards a rebuild

Here’s a rubric for grading the upcoming Orioles offseason

Five months from now the offseason will be over and we’ll be able to grade Mike Elias’ offseason. When I was in school I really appreciated when a professor gave you a detailed rubric that outlined…

Had a lot of fun joining the Bird’s Eye View guys for this!

I told the guys I think the Orioles aren’t going to let us down this offseason so hopefully they prove me right

I think I just don’t like the word wishlist

When I was a kid and made a wishlist I didn’t expect to get everything on the list

I’d prefer the term shopping list which is a list that you make and then you make sure to get everything on the list

But now I’m just being pedantic
Reading Mike Elias’ “wishlist” and it’s not even a very good offseason

This is sad to read and a good reminder that pretty much every fanbase except the Dodgers is telling themselves their team needs to get a top guy in free agency and theres just not enough top guys for everyone
Kinda deflating reply from Tim Dierkes, who doesn't see the Orioles landing any of the big FA SPs or acquiring a legit ace via trade.

Some combo of two of the below could be solid, but just grabbing one and calling it a rotation would be pretty disappointing, with the possible exception of Gray.

What if the Yankees put Spencer Jones on the table?

Watching the Craig Albernaz interview on Foul Territory and he’s being a very good sport with all the accent questions

Good stuff in here. Aside from the specifics, the framing is interesting and IMO correct:

An offseason that would be "acceptable" in a vacuum could actually be a failure given the context. Strolling into '26 with <50% playoff odds after what happened last year is an F, even if the moves are sound.

Really interesting prospect. Just started pitching last year and is already very effective.

Could still develop into something really cool
Should get a real look in spring training and debut at some point next year.
And right-hander Anthony Nunez, part of the return from the Mets for Cedric Mullins, is now on Baltimore's 40-man roster. He finished the year at Triple-A Norfolk with an 0.894 WHIP and 3.45 ERA in 15 2/3 innings

Craig Albernaz’s introductory press conference was a lot of fun.

I tried to imagine what it would have felt like if someone else at that table between Mike Elias and David Rubenstein

Who Craig Albernaz isn’t
When it was announced that the Orioles had hired Craig Albernaz as their new manager the first thing I felt was relief. Did I feel this relief because from the moment the Orioles fired Brandon Hyde…

David Rubenstein: Mike we’re giving you to greenlight to dramatically increase spending

Mike Elias: thanks Dave I’m gonna sneak soooo many relievers through waivers
Orioles announce they have agreed to terms with LHP Josh Walker on a one-year MLB contract for the 2026 season.

Walker was already on the club's 40-man roster.

Endlessly fascinated by baseball people’s determination to make everyone’s nickname the first syllable of their last name +y even if it doesn’t make the name shorter

Rubenstein: alright the promotion is signed you want to send out a press release?
