That’s a really reductive take when most young people are vehemently opposed to capitalism and Jay Z is one of the biggest capitalists there is. Also music doesn’t have to be either vibe or lyrics. Young people love Kendrick. And Jay Z is old.
I was talking to a friend about why the youth don’t seem to hold Jay Z in high regard and his answer was the decrease in literacy and comprehension plus modern rap that is more vibe than lyric makes him almost inaccessible to them.
