The craziest part is that… absolutely no one is asking for this. I don’t know too much history, but I would guess that at least there was some American logical reason in which why we would engage in a war in the past, and thus popular. This is literally out of Trump’s ass.

The one thing that is currently in my mind: What does this (the potential US invasion to Venezuela) mean for Puerto Rico and safety? I feel like the blowback will cause catastrophic consequences for Puerto Ricans.

This sounds like any excuse. They will say anything BUT “we don’t like you having a fair amount of my money.”
Amazon grew revenue 13% with AWS up 20% year over year.

When asked about the 14,000 layoffs this week with a similar number expected next year, it’s CEO said “We are committed to operating like the world’s largest startup, and … that means removing layers.”
Amazon's CEO says its 14,000 job cuts weren't driven by costs or AI: 'It's about culture'
CEO Andy Jassy clarifies Amazon's 14,000 job cuts were due to cultural misalignment, not cost or AI.

“The hub”??? No way are they serious with this.
Admiral Brad Cooper (U.S. CENTCOM);

“This facility [CMCC] will be the hub for the delivery of everything that goes into Gaza.”

The reality is a lot of people who support decent class policies have racist backgrounds and it makes me wonder how the "it's not race, it's class" progressive and leftist discourse may be part of the problem. Anyways, racial justice work needs to be central to class politics.

Just wanted to rant that it feels like I made absolutely no progress within contributing with these open source projects I have been looking forward to contribute. I seen people jumped in the first week and already had a PR, which made me feel pretty bad. Even though I have a job and life, I still 🧵

Is it really a matter IF the person is terminally online? Or is it HOW terminally online a person is? It could just be me but people are already as online as we can be. Making a space where algorithms consumes you is the root of it is. We should look at other avenues than getting rid of social media

THIS. Because they realized, subconsciously or consciously, that they are comfortable being how it is now. I think they also don’t realize that what they are comfortable with is how they are benefiting from white nationalist system. Confusing it with “normal” life. So anything against it is “crazy.”
Y’all don’t hate white supremacy enough for me.

You’ll befriend it, have beers with it, even call it a difference of opinion…you’ll do everything but eradicate it.

White supremacy is not a stance. It is not a position. It is poison. And you’d rather be sick than keep your Black friends safe.

“Charlie Kirk was a father”

So was Eric Garner. So was Philando Castile, who was shot and killed in front of his daughter.

Being successful at procreating does not exempt you from being a white supremacist.

This isn’t hard to understand. I feel like I’m going insane.

A gorgeous promo for the Super Famicom 1993 release of R-Type III: The Third Lightning.

I love the mix of black lines and filled sections and the pale, almost eldritch teal. Goes so well with intricate ship artwork.

It's fun when academics write blog posts as papers:

- dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/... (Why haven't more quantum algorithms been found?)
- arxiv.org/abs/2412.18726 (Opinion: The simplest quantum computer)
- arxiv.org/abs/quant-ph... (Sundays in a Quantum Engineer's Life)

any other good ones in quantum?

My team at the Crowd Counting Consortium (@djpressman.bsky.social, Soha Hammam, & Chris Shay) has finalized our participation estimates for No Kings Day on 6/14. Here are five key takeaways🧵:
New data shows No Kings was one of the largest days of protest in US history
The historic number of No Kings protesters and their expansive geographic spread are signs of a growing and durable pro-democracy movement.

I been doing code wars problems for a while and I have yet to do enough to level up to 6 Kyu. I was thinking on doing the next challenge with either Rust/GoLang/JavaScript. And using with NeoVim editor I thought it might be fun.

I finished Bodega Dreams which it feels like a Harlem Puerto Rican version of the great gatsby. Which is a good thing really it was entertaining overall. Though I wish there was a clearer ending between the couple in the story…

Here are my updates:
1) I was able to join 2 teams in code for Philly. One of which is Phlask and the other one is Benefit decision toolkit(BDT). Both deals with React which I’m ok with. Phlask I’ll be dealing with more civic engagement. While I’ll be helping with the designing process for BDT
