It's really not, bc private investors will tolerate vast amounts of authoritarianism/corruption (see: investment in 🇨🇳 etc. over the last 30 years) & bc baseline growth prospects in 🇪🇺/🇯🇵/etc. were far below 🇺🇸 in January 2025, & because there is nowhere else to go at scale:

It is remarkable that the US stock market hasn't collapsed yet. Between the tariff shit, the racist immigration shit (bye bye joint ventures!), and the "hey, lets make fraud legal" movement, the long term prospects are super grim.
(Chinese companies generally report at least some financial information on a quarterly basis)
(Also this idea is terrible, getting rid of audited quarterly disclosures would absolutely raise the risk premium for the US equity market compared to peers around the world)

I've debugged things you people wouldn't believe. Segmentation faults at 3 AM in production. I watched memory leaks cascade through codebases near forgotten APIs. I've traced race conditions through multithreaded nightmares.
All those late nights will be lost in time, like commits without messages.

new #rustlang crate drop: iddqd! ID-based maps where keys are borrowed from values. Four maps are included: IdOrdMap, IdHashMap, a bijective (1:1) BiHashMap and a trijective (1:1:1) TriHashMap.
At Oxide we've found this pattern to be very useful. iddqd is no-std compatible, too!

Paris said au revoir to cars. Air pollution maps reveal a dramatic change.
Air pollution fell substantially as the city restricted car traffic and made way for parks and bike lanes.

We've shipped a new version of timely dataflow (crates.io/crates/timely) which removes some potentially quadratic behavior. Scopes and operators would take resources proportional to #inputs x #outputs, even with sparse interior connectivity. This is now down to linear in inputs + input-output paths.
