Literally! Like it’d be one thing if this was a dick swinging effort to assert some hegemony…but that would require a real plan and understanding of economics… It’s very obvious he has no idea what he’s doing and is surrounded by idiots who don’t either.
the thing with the tariffs is that he probably could get some serious concessions out of a lot of countries who are heavily dependent on US trade if that’s what he wanted
but he doesn’t actually seem to want that, he wants a positive trade balance in goods even in places that makes no sense

First of all these clowns made elasticity in this equation literally irrelevant by making price elasticity of import demand being 4 and elasticity of import price with tariffs being 0.25. Additionally idk if I even agree with the economics behind the 0.25
